Regarding gzip compression

Postby PRASHANTH_user123 » Fri Jun 22, 2012 10:24 am

Hello ,

We know that many new tags have been added in HTML5 ....so will this affect gzip compression ?

example ) In case we use header and footer tags instead of the standard div tag ?

Thankyou :)

(X)HTML elements (which contain starting or ending tags) should have no noticeable effect on compression. If you are concerned about bandwidth such as ensuring reasonable load times for visitors using dial-up the top two things I would recommend would obviously be to compress all non-binary files (presuming binary files are already compressed) and avoid the use of frameworks which generally double or triple the necessary bandwidth for the person viewing the page.
