URGENT help on HTML5 with java application

Need help please.
m trying to figure out how to create a GUI using htm5 for a java application - do i create the gui and embed in the java application or otherwise..? am i in the right direction here?
I know html5 coding and css3 but never tried with a java application - thats it, I dont know how to connect the two! was thinking of getting netbeans 7 for this.
Not asking how to implement, just instructions of what i need to know and do to get started please.
