A few new character entities

Do you think the HTML spec should do something differently? You can discuss spec feedback here, but you should send it to the WHATWG mailing list or file a bug in the W3C bugzilla for it to be considered.

A few new character entities

Postby VGR » Fri Feb 15, 2008 12:46 pm

There are a couple new entities I would like to see:

&hy; = U+2010 hyphen
&nbhy; = U+2011 non-breaking hyphen

I don't know if I'm the only one who does this, but I use hyphens all over my documents, and repeated occurrences of "&hy;" will be easier to read (I'm pretty sure) than "‐".

The two-letter form is, of course, derived from "".

I don't use non-breaking hyphens nearly as often. "&nbhy;" comes to mind only for the sake of having symmetry with " ".

what about directly writing those hypens (and what ever you need) in the file (instead of the entity) and save that file as utf-8?

it will be even more readable
