How about a property for a div or span or something to determine whether it will allow the text to be selected? (without using javascript)

It would be used if the author of the site did not want people copying copyrighted material.

In addition, it would be wise to allow this to block viewing source or somehow keep it out of source code, because they could still copy it from source.

Or they could use an old browser that allows selection and view source...
What is sent to the browser is copyable by human. There's no way around it. Disabling selection and view source doesn't stop your text from being copied, it just annoys your users.
