newlines in <AREA> coords="" value list allo

Do you think the HTML spec should do something differently? You can discuss spec feedback here, but you should send it to the WHATWG mailing list or file a bug in the W3C bugzilla for it to be considered.

In an <AREA> element should whitespace be allowed in the coords=""
sttring? Opera/Safari/FoxFire/Chrome seem to allow it, but Internet
explorer does not:

coords="
10,20,30,40,50,60,
100,40,200,100,10,20
"

fails to work in Internet Explorer. A complete example is at
http://home.comcast.net/~urbanjost/IMG/BUGS/BAD.html and
http://home/comcast.net/~urbanjost/IMG/BUGS/GOOD.html.

Both files pass the W3C HTML validator. I read this as being allowable.

"The coords attribute must, if specified, contain a valid list of integers.

A valid list of integers is a number of valid integers separated by U+002C COMMA characters, with no other characters (e.g. no space characters). In addition, there might be restrictions on the number of integers that can be given, or on the range of values allowed."
