Here you can discuss stuff that doesn't fit elsewhere; anything you want really.

Favorite element!

Postby anne » Tue Feb 06, 2007 11:25 pm

Let's start off with something lame. What's your favorite element or tag if you wish?

My vote: <a>.

(I didn't make this into a "real poll" as that was just to cumbersome. There's a list of elements to help you pick though.)

No rationales? Do they need to be HTML5 elements?

Otherwise I vote <marquee>! :D All other tags suck big time. This one at least does something.

I'm a programmer, not a designer, so I'm gonna go for <script>!
If I can have three, I'll choose <ul>/<li>

Let's see. <script> + <dialog> + <aside> = <marquee>.

Since I started with webdeveloping in a standard point of view I had a thing for the <html>-element, like a granddad of all the other elements!

And I love styling it together with the body element.

Cheers.

It has to be <blink>.

Just by looking at the element, you know what it's function is.

I'd go for <li> because it's so versatile.

I have to go with <table>, because it takes so much abuse and needs a friend.

paragraph tag forever.

Postby wgabrie » Sun Apr 08, 2007 12:44 am

I like the <p> tag. The paragraph tag has been around since the begining of the web, is universally accessible, and will likely be used forever.

<img> for adding some visual content. Don't use it that much anymore though since my departure from table based layouts.

Quite annoying: <legend>, because of it's standard style which can not be overridden entirely in all browsers.

Thats difficult:

<html>, <head> and <body> because I use them on every webpage

<td></td> because I fear they are the elements I use most

<a> because it connects me to the world

<div> because it is there for quick and dirty solutions

<br> because its the only element i set a shortkey for in my editor, so i am always happy using it
