Wanting to learn Html 5!

Postby zeplin » Thu Jan 28, 2010 9:46 pm

I have been watching many lectures on html5 and excited to learn it. I am very excited about the the new video function. I was hoping someone could help with a couple of things. I used a webpage called firefog that turns video files to ogv file. The file works fine when using google chrome, but firefox does not run the video smooth. This discourages me from using this tag yet :(

another question is that I want to be able to create the cool motion effects in html 5 as I do flash. Looks like much is done using java script. I don't know really any java script. Any good ideas where I can start learning?

Cheers! :)

There are plenty of tutorials out there for both the new HTML 5 elements and also the canvas tag. Since you don't know very much JavaScript I would suggest you check out Processing.js and start by playing around in one of there Web IDE's. It allows you to actually do your coding in a Java syntax and the library does a lot of the grunt work for you. (like keeping track of mouse positions)

Some links to check out:
