A html5 zoom interface

Postby timvanoostrom » Wed Feb 17, 2010 12:01 pm

Firefox has a nice Zoom function (ctrl+/-). Could such a feature be part of HTML5? Programs like flash (scale entire movieclip) and Air have these possibilities.
It would be nice to be able to zoom a div with all it's contents without having to adjust font sizes, image sizes, line-heights etc. Just like the FF zoom works for the whole page.
For example wired.com has a video about their tablet-app and the digital publishing trend (ipad,e-readers,iphone etc).
At 00:50 - 00:53 / 2:08 - 2:18 there is a 'zoom' moment, currently this can not be done with non-canvas / svg elements in HTML5 if i am not mistaken.
Would this be a good feature for HTML5?

This seems like something for CSS -- not HTML. As it happens, IE supports a 'zoom' property in CSS; maybe you should suggest to www-style@w3.org that it be specified.
