3d in HTML

Postby bsabiston » Fri Apr 30, 2010 9:15 pm

Is there any sample code that displays and perhaps allows manipulation of a 3D scene/object? I was thinking of using 'papervision' for flash but if it is possible in html5 and easy then i would like to look into it.

What is the deal with HTML5, I read about all these nightly builds. Is it just certain additions to html5 that won't run in most browsers, or is the whole thing not widespread yet? What about 3D?

Thanks
Bob

There's WebGL which is now shipping in Chrome and Firefox, and coming up in Opera, to draw 3d scenes on a canvas. For pseudo-3d (or 2.5d) you can use the 2d canvas context (actually I've seen a library that implements proper 3d using the 2d context, too). But WebGL is better for 3d of course.
