Creating portlet like look and feel with html

Hi,
I needed some help. I am a newbie to Html5 and wanted to know if there is a way to have a portlet like look and feel using html5 element's or even a div tag without using web sphere. Only a gui representation where by on the click of maximize button the entire page would get filled up by that section/div/article...Any kind of help would be appreciated.

Can you give a link to such a portlet? It's hard to guess what look and feel you want.
