HTML5 Video issues

Postby handemmet » Thu Nov 01, 2012 4:14 pm

Hi

I am having an issue with viewing my videos in Chrome on my mobile (android).
The video appears but does not play. Has anybody got any ideas?

The test page is:
http://www.emuse-tech.com/testing/index.html

If you click the button "Showreel" at the bottom of the screen you will see my problem.
It works perfectly on on the desktop browsers.....it's just chrome on android.

Thanks for your help.

How did you encode the MP4 file?

I brought in my flv file into a piece of software called 'OGG VIDEO CONVERTER' which allows me to convert it to MP4.
For the codec I used H.264 (Baseline Profile)
Bit rate: auto
Frame rate: auto
Size: Same as original

Is the problem the flv to mp4????

Thanks for your help!!

It thought it might be, but it's hard to say off-hand. My theory was that you used something other than Baseline profile, which is generally not supported on mobiles. Since you used Baseline, it should work.

Can you play other video files in Chrome/Android?

You can try filing a bug: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/list

I've noticed that the top videos play ok........but when you scroll the page and try another video....it doesn't work. It's something to do with scrolling.
Chrome doesn't autostart your videos so you have to press play......but when you scroll down the page.....it's as if the press command on the play button is still up at the top of the page where the other videos play ok.

Is there a way when you press the image link to open your video.......that the parent page jumps up to the top of the page.....so the video could play?
The link I have at the moment is like:

<a rel="shadowbox;height=364;width=648;controls=autoplay;" href="assets/video/video_30.html" title="Test Video number 30"><img src="assets/img/video_thumbnail_30.jpg" alt="" border="0" name=""></a>

Thanks for your help

I don't follow. I tested your page in Chrome now and it seems to work for me even after scrolling.

Hi

Did you test it in Chrome on an Android phone?

If there is......the videos will play in chrome on Android.
my link goes:

<a rel="shadowbox;height=354;width=648;controls=autoplay;" href="assets/video/ad_camp_sky_plus.html" title="Sky +"><img src="assets/img/video_thumbnail_sky_plus.jpg" alt="" border="0" name="sky_plus"></a>
