It does display the page, but not correctly. Everything is placed below each other, sequentially.

I would add a screen shot as attachment but there doesn't seem to be an option for that...

Firefox 2 would close the new element upon seeing a block-level element like <h2>, so that <nav><h2> is parsed as if it were <nav></nav><h2>. That's why the layout is broken.

Damn ! I guess that's a very bad point for those who want to start using HTML 5 for now, even though the ratio FF2_users / (FF2users+FF3_users) is way smaller than the ratio IE6_users/(IE6_users+IE7_users). Image
Has someone found yet a way to trick FF2 ? (I guess not)

You can use XHTML5.

Though I wouldn't worry too much about Firefox 2 -- its user base will soon enough be irrelevant.
